The aims of the RIchmond Environmental Information Centre are:
- To advance the education of the public in ecology, environmental studies, resource conservation and natural history.
- To promote the conservation, protection and restoration for the public benefit of the natural resources, natural beauty and animal and plant life of Richmond upon Thames and the world, and the lands and buildings of historic interest or of ecological or scientific importance.
In furtherance of the above objects the REIC may:
- Stimulate the interest, participation and co-operation of the inhabitants of the Borough in the achievement of the above aims and to co-ordinate affiliated groups, individual inhabitants of the Borough and organisations engaged in conservation and environmental matters.
- Publish books, pamphlets and other writings, photographs, films, drawings, sound and video recording, television and sound broadcasts, and to use all other methods of publishing and disseminating information to the public.
- Conduct research, and to assist and encourage lecturers, teachers, writers, students, children and others to conduct such research; to publish and disseminate the results of such research; to promote and organise lectures, courses, conferences, seminars and meetings.
